The poems are chosen from \u003cem\u003eThe Book of Hours\u003c\/em\u003e (1899-1903), \u003cem\u003eThe Book of Images\u003c\/em\u003e (1902 and 1906), \u003cem\u003eNew Poems\u003c\/em\u003e (1907 and 1908), \u003cem\u003eRequiem\u003c\/em\u003e (1909), \u003cem\u003eDuino Elegies\u003c\/em\u003e (1923), \u003cem\u003eSonnets to Orpheus\u003c\/em\u003e (1923), and the posthumous \u003cem\u003ePoems 1906-26\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. This selection was made by Professor Theodore Ziolkowski of Princeton University, who drew from the various New Directions volumes of Rilke's work translated by J. B.
